The Finishing Touches

Within about 6 weeks of your wedding you will have got most of the plans in place for your wedding.  The venue, caterer, entertainment, photographer, florist and cake will all have been booked. Dresses and suits will have been bought ordered and invitations sent out.

With the RSVPs arriving you will start thinking about table plans and all those little extras that you would like for the day. Some of these are very necessary and others totally optional, but here is a guide to those essential finishing touches:

1.    Order of service – whether you are having a religious or civil ceremony, an order of service helps guide your guests through the event. You will want to include a list of music, readings and prayers, including the words that you want the congregation to participate in. The order of service should look beautiful as they are a lovely keepsake.
2.    Table Plans – if my wedding is anything to go by, planning where everyone will sit is the most difficult job of the entire organisation. It is one of the most important things for the guests’ enjoyment, so the table plan is one of the first things they look for when they arrive at the reception, so make it easy to find and easy to read.
3.    Table Numbers/Names – Organising most families is often quite challenging, so make the table numbers easy to read too, to help them find their places easily.
4.    Place Cards – you may want to allocate all the places on each table and place cards or tags can be a lovely additional decoration to your table.
5.    Menu – your guests will want to see a menu before they eat – whether you have one per table or one per person is up to you.
